Emma has recently realised her dream of moving to Tasmania. She is now involved with Truffledore Dogs, conducting Truffle Dog and Handler Training workshops and assisting with the Cooking School on Cradle Country Farm.
After gaining over 20 years experience training and working with dogs. She has been internationally certified as a detection dog trainer and has studied with the National Dog Trainers Federation.
Emma has worked as an operational Explosives Detection Dog handler and trainer. She has worked with the Victorian DPI training dogs for pest species detection.
Emma is well versed in a huge range of training techniques and methods. She was partners in and ran a dog day care and training facility, regularly attends seminars, workshops and training courses including Randy Hares Detection Dog Training and Techniques conducted in Queensland and Medical Alert Dog Training with Debby Kay who wrote the book on Super Sniffers.
Emma has also trained detection dog teams with La Trobe University, Faculty of Science Technology and Engineering, School of Psychological Science for a new research project.
She has had an affinity with animals her whole life and particular dogs.
After the loss of Harvey explosives detection Labrador and Omo the Dutch Shepherd trained in Urban Search and Rescue , we are enjoying Truffle training with Quick-Silver the Dutch Shepherd previously trained in Lost Pet Track and Search and of course Nosework for fun.
She is enjoying her new team member Ninja the Jagd (German Hunting Terrier) and learning all about what trouble terriers can get up to ......
Sonja has been training dogs for over 25 years, gaining titles with several dogs in obedience & tracking. She has extensive experience with dog behavioural training.
Sonja was an Australian certified and operational Search and Rescue dog handler with her GSD Luther, specialising in Urban search and rescue.
She currently lectures Animal Science (behaviour and training) and researches canine scenting and detection for pest and diseases at the University of Melbourne, Faculty of Veterinary and Agricultural Science. She has extensive knowledge on scent and how it is effected by environmental and atmospheric conditions and holds a number of degrees including B. App. Sc., Grad. Cert. Forensic Sci., Grad. Dip. Teaching and is currently completing her Masters researching Frost.
